A concept which took shape over a casual discussions between the husband and wife has come a long way today and has made a loyal customer base for itself.

Every successful venture comes with a ‘behind the scenes’ story. All the action, the chaos, the brains, everything is happening at the backstage, with the viewers enjoying the perfectly made movie. LGU has a similar story.

If I had to describe Sapna – the lady who is running the show for the last 5 years, the first word that comes to my mind is “passion”.

A mother of two kids, Sapna was an interior designer and a very successful one at that. She used to often pick up magazines featuring bikes, and when asked she would say that it is for her husband Sukesh, who was a bike enthusiast. On their 10th anniversary she gifted him his first Kawasaki Ninja 250. At that time, Sapna was a pillion rider. Little did she know that one day she would be actually riding a bike and running a bike accessories store? It’s one of its kind in India, only because the person who runs the store is a woman. That’s the USP of Let’s Gear Up! And not just a woman sitting behind the billing counter, she holds the forte with aplomb.

The brand started with a vision – to provide the correct gear for riding a bike, hence ensuring the safety of the riders on road. Sapna equipped herself with the right information, regarding bikes, their functions, the safety etc.

She understood the needs of her clients, and would take a genuine interest in helping them pick up the right accessory. She kept herself updated with product knowledge. While we come across people who just want to make a sale, Sapna stands out. Her motive is safety, and she doesn’t compromise on her vision to make a profit. To an extent that she has had clients actually telling her that no one let’s go of an opportunity to make a sale. That is what set her apart from others.

They say that a journey is incomplete without obstacles as it’s these obstacles that strengthen your journey. Her journey also hit a road block, when in 2015; she realized that she was going into a low zone. When she mentioned this to people, they would shrug it off as ‘stress’, ask her to take a break for few days, chill out and come back, but she knew that it was something more than just stress. In a society, where depression is not a word that people use so freely, as it has a lot of stigma attached to it. No one talks about it, we keep it hidden for we fear being judged, being rejected.  Sapna not only accepted it, but she also fought it with her determination and zeal. Not the ones to succumb to the darkness, she came out of it in full glory and used her inner strength and zen for LGU.

Today as she looks back, at the path she chose, the milestones achieved, the obstacles that she cleared, she smiles. The smile which radiates pride, satisfaction and fulfillment. She stayed determined, she stayed patient through her roller coaster of emotions and just trusted the journey.

It is rightly said, “The journey of a thousand miles begins with a SINGLE step”.
