6 Tips to Get Back on Track Post Diwali- Lifestyle and Wellness

Diwali is one festival which is celebrated with great pomp and enthusiasm. It is the time of the year when we relax with our families, meet friends and enjoy the delicacies which have been prepared especially during the festival. So the festivities have finally come to an end. And obviously most of us have ended up overindulging in the delicacies which were laid down during the festival. In short copious amounts of sugar, oil, refined flour so on and so forth have been tugged in without even batting an eye. While we all know that excessive amounts of refined products can wreak havoc on our system but we have already consumed it. So it’s time to get back on track and say bye bye to the unhealthy habits we picked up during the festival season.

Here is how you can get back on track-

1.START YOUR DAY WITH LEMON AND CORIANDER WATER

They say that you must start your day on a healthy note. Start your day with a glass of warm water with half a lemon and about a teaspoon of chopped coriander. Not only will it help in flushing out toxins but you shall surely feel refreshed and what’s more? It can aid in weight loss too. All the more this concoction can help with digestion and relieve you from heartburn and bloating.

2. TIME TO FILL YOUR PLATE WITH SALAD

So before you start eating your meals (lunch and dinner) make sure you fill half your plate with some salad.You can prepare a salad of your choice with (cucumber,carrot,beetroot,radish,tomato etc).Raw vegetables have been endowed with fiber which can keep you full for longer duration ,prevent you from over-eating and help in cleansing your system.

3. CUT DOWN ON PROCESSED AND REFINED FOODS

All this while you have been consuming processed and refined foods and it’s time to bid adieu to all your unhealthy friends (sugar,refined flour and so on) .Your body is still coping up with excessive amounts of these foods and hence it is best to stay away from the extra barfi, peda, ladoos and farsan which is left in your kitchen.Rather consume fresh fruits,salads,sauteed/steamed veggies and foods like oats, quinoa, barley, daliya which are easier to digest and shall give you enough energy.

4. EXERCISE REGULARLY

You might think that exercising is all about joining a fancy gym or a zumba class in order to stay in shape. But that is not how it works. All you need to do is go for a walk in the morning for about 30-40 minutes or may be in the evening. Physical activity is extremely important as you need to keep moving in order to stay healthy. If that gym schedule went for a toss due to the festivities then you must get back on track.

5. EAT HOME-COOKED FOOD

So you enjoyed Diwali parties without thinking about the food which went in to your system? I am sure you must have eaten out almost every day during the festivities and if that’s the case give your system a fair break since it deserves it. While outside food is tasty, it is also loaded with sugar, salt,oil and various other ingredients which your system does not require in the long run. Hence promise yourself to not consume outside food for at least a month. Eat home-cooked meals which are not just healthy but can be prepared easily as well.

6. EAT MINDFULLY

You must keep those gadgets away while eating. Stay away from phones,laptops and even television during mealtime.You must know how much food you have consumed and hence prevent yourself from over-eating.Relish your meals and give your eyes a well deserved break.You have already replied to loads of Diwali messages for now and have even uploaded umpteen number of Diwali pictures on social media too.
