9 Healthy Drinks Your Body Will Thank You For

healthy drinks for women

Summer is bidding us good bye and yet we are waiting with an eager eye for this year’s monsoon. But taking care of your health and providing it good nutrition is never off season. So, I would like to share some of the healthy drinks that are very good and useful for women’s health and are easily available too.

1. Soy Milk

Lowers risk of heart disease. Soy milk contains soluble fibre and soy protein, which lowers LDL (bad) cholesterol levels and triglycerides, reducing the risk of cardiovascular disease. If you’re drinking it instead of cow’s milk, buy soy milk fortified with calcium and vitamins A and D. One caveat: Soy contains phytoestrogens, which may be linked to an increased risk of breast cancer. Talk to your doctor about drinking soy milk if you have a family history of the disease or have had it yourself.

2. Tea

Drinking tea, according to an article published in the Harvard Women’s Health Watch, can actually lower your risk of heart disease and stroke.

3. Almond Milk

Almonds are packed with good fats—and replacing bad fats with good fats in your diet may help you lower your blood cholesterol levels, which is ultimately good for your heart.ask-a-doctor4.  A5 Ounce Glass of Red Wine

There is substantial evidence to suggest that a truly moderate amount of any alcohol may be good for your heart, whether its beer, liquor or wine. Other studies, however, have shown that red wine is packed with exceptionally good antioxidants. ( 5 Oz is nearly 150 ml.)

5. Fresh Tomato Juice

Tomato products are the richest source of the antioxidant lycopene, which has been associated with a reduced risk of lung and stomach cancer, as well as pancreatic, colorectal, oesophageal, oral, breast, and cervical cancers. Lycopene also appears to protect the lungs and heart against oxidative damage, helping to ward off cardiovascular disease.

6. Green Tea

This one of the most popular healthy drinks helps reduce risk of osteoporosis, cancer, heart disease, and cavities. The tea’s antioxidants may also guard against heart disease by relaxing blood vessels, inhibiting the formation of blood clots that trigger heart attacks and strokes.

7. Hot Chocolate

Improves mood and may help protect against heart disease. Chocolate increases the production of the neurotransmitter serotonin, which is responsible for regulating mood. (Low levels of serotonin have been associated with depression.) Cocoa is also rich in polyphenols, plant-derived antioxidants that may protect cells against oxidative damage that can lower HDL (good) cholesterol levels, possibly putting you at higher risk for a heart attack.

8. Orange Juice

An excellent source of vitamin C, orange juice is also a potent antioxidant that may protect against a variety of diseases including cataracts (a clouding of the eye’s lens that can lead to blindness) and lung cancer. Vitamin C may prevent oxidative damage that can cause cells to become cancerous, and it improves immune-cell functioning (Immunity), enabling your body to fight off infections more efficiently. And it’s a good source of folate, which protects against neural-tube defects in fetuses. To get the extra benefit of bone protection, try some calcium-fortified orange juice.

9. Water

The last one and the most important of all the liquids your body needs : WATER. Yes, we all have been told and have heard or read how drinking water is important for a healthy body. Water helps in maintaining body fluids, aids kidneys in cleansing the system. facilitates proper bowel movement, keeps body energized and hydrated and also makes your skin look good.

So along with saying bye-bye to summer, say hello to these healthy drinks and stay happy and fit!
