Television actor Anita Hassanandani and her husband, entrepreneur Rohit Reddy recently announced about that they are expecting their first child on Instagram.
Anita wrote on one of her posts, ” Embarking on a new journey…
The journey to becoming parents will always be a special one for us. As parents-to-be, we want nothing but the best for our baby. The preparation for the arrival of the baby has gladly been the centre of our attention.” Her pregnancy announcement was received warmly by her fans, friends and paparazzi.
In a society, where everything that a woman does is tied to a check-list of norms and traditions, conceiving and getting pregnant at ‘right time’ is one of the pressures which married women often have to face. And then there is always a reminder of ticking ‘biological clock’.
Late pregnancies are often tough and not easy for all women. So especially for working women or women who are not in emotional or financial place to have a child – late pregnancy comes naturally. Ultimately, it is best for the woman, the couple and the family that they bring a child into this world when they are emotionally, physically and financially ready to take the additional responsibilities of a baby.
Anita Hassanandani shared in her interview with Times of India, “The age-factor did play on my mind. Many people told me that it’s going to be tough, it overwhelms you. But once I conceived naturally, I realised that age is just a number. You need to be mentally and physically fit for everything to fall in place. Jo naseeb mein likha hota hai, woh toh hota hi hai. “
She also talked about how, she and Rohit decided to have a baby when the two were ready, and not when the society ‘expected’ them to have a child.
Having a child is all about your readiness and desire to become parents and not about the society’s or family’s expectations from you or your partner.
Today, Rohit and I feel well-settled — we are financially and mentally in a place where we are ready to have a child.
