Percy Karat in conversation with Sneha Jain.

Introduce yourself.

I am Sneha Jain, I am 28 and I live in Mumbai.

No small talk, let’s get to the point. What made you think ‘I should learn to ride a bicycle now’?

As a child I never learned how to ride a bike. So I decided to challenge my childhood fear and learn once and for all how to ride.

If you don’t mind us asking, how old are you? Did you ever feel I can’t do it or it’s too late to learn to ride a bike?

I am 28. With all those passing years looking at the toddlers on their bikes just made it look so easy and made me more and more certain that I should have learnt it in my childhood and it wasn’t possible anymore.

How did you go about with your hunt for a cycling trainer?

I looked up a few websites but it was all clogged with trainers for kids and an hour’s research and I could not find any lead. Then I happened to come across VeloCrush reached out to Abhishek and there we were scheduling our first training session.

ask-a-doctor

How many sessions did it take you to learn the act of balancing? Also, did you fear you will fall off?

In my first two sessions I had a constant fear of falling off, but with the subsequent sessions it got better every time. By the 4th session I had learnt to balance.

What is your day like now after starting to cycle? Has cycling changed how you feel and think?

It makes me feel so much more confident and it makes me happy.

Do you think it’s important for women to take up cycling and why?

I think cycling is a great way for men and women to build up some physical activity in their lives to improve their mental health and fitness.

What keeps you motivated to practice daily?
I believe there is nothing compared to a simple pleasure of a bike ride to start your day.

We are sure there are many women like Sneha who don’t know how to ride a bicycle. That’s completely okay. VeloCrush India is there for you.
